Mallorca AI Travel Engine is not a generic tool adapted to tourism. It is a technological platform built from scratch in Mallorca, designed for Mallorca, and powered by real knowledge of the island. And, more importantly, it aligns with the island's future vision: Smart Island Mallorca.
We haven't taken an existing system and dressed it up for tourism. We have designed a smart, scalable, and secure architecture that combines the best of software engineering, artificial intelligence, and local knowledge to offer a unique experience for both travelers and professionals.
Our mission is to demonstrate that cutting-edge technology can and should serve a destination, understanding its peculiarities, respecting its essence, and enhancing its ecosystem.
Smart Island Mallorca
Aligned with Smart Island Mallorca
Mallorca is immersed in an ambitious digital transformation process: the Smart Island Mallorca project. With an investment of more than €8.8 million, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), this initiative aims to turn the island into a smart tourist destination, using technology to manage visitor flows and combat overcrowding.
This project, recently presented at international fairs such as ITB Berlin and WTM London, is structured around six major areas: tourism, mobility, energy efficiency, heritage, open government, and resilience. Its goal is twofold: to improve the visitor experience and, at the same time, to protect the quality of life of residents.
Mallorca AI Travel Engine was born as a perfect complement to this vision. While the Smart Island project focuses on infrastructure, we provide the conversational and predictive intelligence layer. We are the "personal assistant" that brings that data to life, offering travelers the right information at the right time to deseasonalize tourism and relieve pressure on the most overcrowded spots.
Architecture
Architecture: designed for the destination
The platform is built on a modern, modular, and scalable architecture, specifically designed to support the complexity of a tourist destination like Mallorca.
Frontend: The PWA you don't need to install
The end-user experience resides in a Progressive Web App (PWA) accessible from any browser. It is not an application that users have to download and install, but a web platform that works like an app, instantly accessible from their phone, tablet, or computer.
This decision is fundamental to our model. The Mallorca AI PWA is lightweight, fast, and takes up no space on the traveler's device. It can be added to the home screen as a shortcut, offering an experience similar to a native app, but without the installation barriers.
Backend: The brain of the operation
The backend is the command center. It manages PWA requests, houses the artificial intelligence, administers the local knowledge database, and securely and efficiently processes all transactions, reservations, and information flows.
This robust and modular architecture allows the platform to be scalable, able to grow and adapt to the needs of Mallorca's tourism ecosystem without compromising speed or service reliability.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence: predictive, not generative
At the core of Mallorca AI Travel Engine is our artificial intelligence engine, and we have been very deliberate in its design. We have not opted for generative artificial intelligence that "invents" nice answers. We have created a predictive and conversational AI, specifically tailored to the local scenario.
Predictive AI, not Generative
Our AI does not hallucinate or invent. It is based on real, verified, and contextualized data to anticipate needs and offer precise recommendations. Instead of generating creative text, its main function is to predict the best option for the traveler based on their profile and context, using a rule engine and machine learning models trained on local data.
Conversational and Contextual
We have trained our models to understand natural language, but always within the context of Mallorca. The AI understands references to locations ("Palma", "Sóller", "Tramuntana"), activities ("boat trips", "hiking"), and seasonal needs ("what to do if it rains", "family plans"). The result is a fluid and useful conversation, where technology becomes invisible and the user feels accompanied by a local expert.
A proprietary database: the knowledge of Mallorca
The true power of our AI lies in its local knowledge database, which we have built from scratch. This database is not a simple list of places, but an ecosystem of interconnected information. It contains structured data on:
Geography and Zones: Beaches, mountains, towns, and their characteristics.
Experiences and Services: Activities, tours, restaurants, and their attributes (price, duration, type, accessibility, etc.).
Seasons and Weather: Information on seasonality, tourist flow, and weather conditions.
Logistics: Hospitals, pharmacies, transportation, and emergency services.
This database is the "brain" of the platform, and it is fed by two sources:
Human curation: Our team of local experts selects and verifies every element that enters the database, ensuring that only high-quality experiences and services are included.
Continuous learning: The AI itself, during its interactions, detects patterns, trends, and new needs, feeding the database anonymously to make it smarter and more precise over time.

Every interaction a user has with the AI is anonymous. We do not store personally identifiable information (name, email, phone) associated with questions or recommendations. This allows us to analyze the aggregate behavior of travelers, detect demand trends, and improve AI accuracy, without compromising anyone's privacy.
Conversations are dissociated from any identifying data.
Search and recommendation patterns are aggregated to understand what travelers are looking for at any given time and season.
This "anonymous" knowledge allows us to continually refine the local database, making it more useful and relevant for the destination.
